ARTISTS BIOHedy has been a great admirer of the grace, beauty and intelligence of the horse all her life. Being the proud owner of an American Quarter horse gives her a unique opportunity to be around horses and to observe and study them up close. With a background in graphic design and illustration, as well as fine art, Hedy has many years of experience painting and drawing. She has satisfied many with her work. Oil and pastel are her favorite mediums, but she also works in pen and ink, colored pencil and watercolor, in a highly detailed, realistic style. Hedy has honed her artistic skill over many years. Largely self-taught, she has attended many classes and workshops over the years. Hedy received an Associate degree in Graphic Design/Illustration from Ray College of Design, Chicago, Illinois, and was employed for 10 years as a graphic designer/illustrator at Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, Illinois. Hedy attended a workshop in 2000, headed by Werner Rentsch, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Hedy has also done much freelance graphic design and illustration work. In 1990 Crossway Books publishing company asked Hedy do an illustration for a childrens book. From 1994-99 she produced an award-winning newsletter for the Chicago chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. Hedy has been commissioned to do many pen and ink architectural renderings for private individuals, organizations and local realtors. In September 2002 and 2003, Hedy had her equine paintings accepted into the American Academy of Equine Art Fall open juried exhibition held at the International Museum of the Horse located in the Kentucky Horse Park, at Lexington, KY. |
